Oh My God, I'm doing this?!

Aaarrrggghhh! So this is my first blog on my brand new website, all done by myself and that is no mean feat I can tell you!

I've wanted to set up a website for a while and get my artwork out there, so after years of 'I haven't got time' 'no one would be interested in lil old me' and 'I don't know how' I took the plunge and went for it. So it's still a learning curve and I'm sure I'm going to get plenty wrong, so this site might change a bit while I get used to it and navigate my way around it, so bare with me.

So, what do I write? what do I say? Do people even want to know? I guess I'll start with a little about me. I'm Dannii, I live with my Wife, Son and our cat Penny in sunny Manchester, UK. I work full time as a Civil Servant and so drawing is my escape from reality.

I have loved drawing and art since I can remember and I'm sure my mum will atest to me being an artist all those years ago when I made my own gallery on our stairs. I started drawing comic book characters and trees (?) and went from there, in between I have tried my hand at so many different mediums and styles, from graffiti to realistic, of which I am awful, Pastels to oil paints, agian, not the best but I do keep trying. I think I've finally found my niche though with Disney and pencils. I adore everything about Disney so it seemed to be a natural progression for me to draw my favourite characters. I do still try my hand at other subjects, flowers, tree's (again) clouds and whatever my hand doodles when I have a bit of time to kill. And yes, I seem to draw a lot of tree's, I have no idea why.

People usually talk about their inspirations and who got them into art in the first place, and honestly, I couldn't tell you who mine are there are so many. I get inspired every day by so many different things and different artists that the list would be endless. From L S Lowry, right down to local Graffiti artists and my mate at work who can do awesome tattoo designs, there are so many brilliant artists out there in their own fields so if I can take anything from any of them, it's just that they all inspire me in one way or another to do my best.

So why sell them? Well, to be honest, I do not have enough walls to display everything I'd want to and they seem too nice to keep in a folder, so why not let someone else enjoy them too.
